1. What is Satyanarayan Puja?
The Satyanarayan Puja is one of the most widely performed pujas in Hindu households across India. It is a worship of Lord Satyanarayan โ Satya (Truth) + Narayan (Lord Vishnu) โ the form of Vishnu as the Lord of Truth. The puja includes the recitation of five chapters of the Satyanarayan Katha (story), which narrate miraculous events proving the power of devotion to the Lord.
This puja is performed on auspicious occasions โ house warming, marriage, business beginning, child's birth, return from a journey, or simply on the full moon (Purnima) day of each month as a vow (vrat).
"The Satyanarayan Puja is special because it is accessible to all โ rich and poor, learned and simple. The Lord asks only for truthfulness, devotion and the sharing of prasad. The rest he provides."
