What is Tarabalam?

Tarabalam (తారాబలం / தாராபலம்) literally means "star strength." It measures how auspicious the current day's Nakshatra is for an individual, based on their personal birth star (Janma Nakshatra). The same Nakshatra can be auspicious for one person and inauspicious for another.

⭐ Tarabalam makes panchangam personal. Two people in the same city on the same day can have opposite tarabalam — making it a uniquely individual guidance tool.

The 9 Taras

Count from your birth Nakshatra to today's Nakshatra. The position (1-9, cycling) determines your Tara:

1. Janma (Neutral) · 2. Sampat ✅ Good · 3. Vipat ❌ Bad · 4. Kshema ✅ Good · 5. Pratyari ❌ Bad · 6. Sadhaka ✅ Good · 7. Naidhana ❌ Bad · 8. Mitra ✅ Good · 9. Parama Mitra ✅✅ Excellent

How to Use Tarabalam

For any important activity, check that today's Tarabalam is good (Sampat, Kshema, Sadhaka, Mitra, or Parama Mitra). If Tarabalam is bad (Vipat, Pratyari, Naidhana), avoid important new beginnings even if the general panchangam looks good.
